Pet Move of the Month: Relocating Five Pets to Sri Lanka

Wednesday, February 8, 2012 by PetRelocation.com Customer
Owning multiple pets already means living a life filled with a little more adventure than the average person, so imagine if, on top of that, you were traveling the world with a menagerie in tow.

That's the story behind February's Pet Move of the Month -- with three cats (Tom, Pom and Mobster) and two dogs (Felice and Worsie), Cindy and her husband Luigi have relocated more than once and haven't yet settled anywhere for good. Read more about their recent move to Sri Lanka, and join us in wishing them all the best as they continue their world travels!

Pet Move of the MonthIs this the first time you’ve ever moved your pets?
No, we’ve relocated quite a bit actually. The first time was from the Netherlands to Italy and the last time (before moving to Sri Lanka) was from Scotland to Namibia.

What were some of your concerns going into the move?
Our relocation from Scotland to Namibia did not go well at all, so we were actually concerned about everything! In particular about Felice, as the blood tests in Scotland went wrong as a result of which he could not travel with the rest and even had to make an additional stopover in Zimbabwe, as the results were not available on time.

So, all in all we were very, very concerned. But this gradually all disappeared as Christina really knew what she was doing and really seemed to have it all under control. I must admit that we were worried about the time frame -- in particular the blood samples that had to be shipped to South Africa, as the testing could not be done in Namibia. We had just seven days from drawing the blood to receiving the test results, but it all went very well and everybody involved was really great!

Did anything surprise you about the international pet moving process?
Well, not particularly about the international pet moving process itself, as we’ve become quite familiar with it, but the approach of PetRelocation.com was definitely refreshing!

How are your pets adjusting to the new location?

Very well!! The temperatures are somewhat lower than in Namibia and the humidity is many times higher, but they don’t seem to be bothered by it. The dogs love the garden and the cats love running around the house.

At night (we live “on top of a hill” as the last house of this “street”), thousands of bats fly past our house, and this is something our cats love! They have actually already become accustomed to this and they wait for it to happen (and then Pom starts climbing the window bars hoping to catch one)!

What is life like in Sri Lanka? Is it a pet-friendly place to be?
I would not describe it as pet-friendly actually. There are so many dogs living on the street, which is something I find hard to accept. It’s difficult to take the dogs for a walk, as street dogs might attack them. Fortunately we have lots of land around the house where they can run about.

We do live close to the Veterinary Medicine Faculty of the University of Peradeniya, and vet services are said to be good around here. So far I haven’t seen any pet stores yet. I do know of a specialized K-9 store in Colombo (the capital of Sri Lanka), but here in the Kandy region there's nothing so far!

Supermarkets generally sell cat and dog food (Whiskas, Pedigree, etc.), but nothing really fancy. Litter boxes and litter box sand is nowhere to be found, so we had to improvise. We now use large plastic washing bowls with wood fluff in it as litter boxes, and the cats don’t really seem to mind.

mobster
Mobster the Cat

Luigi created a scratch pole from pieces of wood and coconut rope, which they appreciate very much. We normally cook for all the guys twice a day, and they do appreciate the fresh fish that is abundantly available over here.

What advice do you have for people who might be planning a move?
Start early if you know you’re about to relocate! We contacted PetRelocation.com about 10 months in advance, and this might seem ridiculous, but in the end it really worked in our favor as we were able to think of a Plan B or even a Plan C if Plan A would not appear to be feasible. And it also gave Christina lots of time to organize all the people involved and find the best agents throughout the route.

Please contact PetRelocation.com if you have any questions about moving pets to Sri Lanka (or anywhere else). Who knows, maybe you'll be our next Pet Move of the Month!

Pet Move Customer Testimonial: Jake and Rodney's Move to the UK

Wednesday, February 8, 2012 by PetRelocation.com Customer
Name: Tina
Pets' Names: Rodney and Jake
From: Redding, California
To: Ramsey, Mereside, Cambs, UK

I was really scared about moving Rodney and Jake all the way to the United Kingdom. Rebecca was so kind to me and really helped calm my fears. She was with me every step of the way, including all my vet visits. Everything went so smoothly.

When Rodney and Jake arrived to me in the UK they looked so happy to see me and didn't have any ill effects from their journey. They were happy to be with me in England. I would recommend PetRelocation.com to anyone who was wanting to relocate with their pets. They made what could have been a very stressful experience into such smooth sailing!!!! Thank you sooo much.

Pet Move Customer Testimonial: Snowy & Sheila's Dog Move to Hong Kong

Tuesday, February 7, 2012 by PetRelocation.com Customer
Name: Linda
Company: US Department of State
Pets' Names: Snowy and Sheila
From: Arlington, Virginia
To: Hong Kong

My name is Linda and I am a traveling spouse with the US State Department. We are a traveling family and we take our senior dogs, Snowy (13) and Sheila (14), everywhere we go - no matter the country. I am fully aware of the details of shipping our pets, as I had prepared all the paperwork, vaccinations, etc. for shipping, as excess baggage, our two large dogs to Chennai, India and back.

However our next post, Hong Kong, proved to be more than I could handle alone. The regulations are much stricter and our dogs would have to be cargo shipped -- something I was not prepared to handle by myself. I had read information from other people, blogs and ex-pat communities and all of them advised using a pet shipping company.

I chose PetRelocation.com and I must say it was a great choice! I worked with Jon, who informed me every step of the way of all the details, vaccinations, paperwork and items I had to prepare. He calmed my nerves when at the last moment our chosen airline decided to cease processing pets on the weekends. He rejoiced with me when the airlines said yes to arranging a shot of insulin for my diabetic dog, Snowy, on the Frankfurt stopover. He was thorough and informative and did not seem to mind my long emails and phone calls with many many questions.

Yes, pet shipping can be expensive, but just look at all the information that must be acquired, the phone calls, agents to arrange, pet pick up, pet drop off, USDA certifications, etc... PetRelocation.com agents are pros at all of this, and it was wonderful! I highly recommend them!

We are now in Hong Kong (see picture) and Sheila loves looking out at the city, while Snowy just sleeps the day away. Thanks again, PetRelocation.com, for all your help. You made a difficult task easy!!!

Pet Move Spotlight: Dexter's Move to Shanghai (and Making New Friends)

Thursday, February 2, 2012 by PetRelocation.com Customer
We (specifically Pet Relocation Specialist Sarah) recently moved Dexter, a lab/retriever mix, from Canada to Shanghai. It always takes pets a little while to adjust to their new surroundings, but Dexter encountered an extra surprise upon arrival: his owner found and adopted a new pup shortly after relocating, so Dexter found himself with a new  home and a new sister, Lotte. We wish this sweet family lots of luck!

Here's what the dogs' owner had to say:

Dexter and Lotte are doing great --  after a week of little fights they are too cute together ;) My boy is not a baby anymore, he is so big now... he still thinks he is a little puppy and sits on mommy's lap.

Dexter, recharging after his big move

I did some research and hopefully I found the right Dog Park. Dexter enjoys his walks and made two friends, both Golden Retrievers (6 & 12 months) Roger and Moby. Dex is almost as big as the 6 months young pup ;)

Sarah you honestly ROCK! One thing I can tell you, I am coming back, be prepared lol ;) It is nice here and yet very different. I miss my Canada already, nothing feels like home, eh!

Pet Move Customer Testimonial: Josh's Move to Singapore!

Wednesday, February 1, 2012 by PetRelocation.com Customer
Name: Amanda
Pet's Name: Josh
From: Japan
To: Singapore

We chose PetRelocation.com because of their home-to-home delivery service. It was our first time moving Josh and we were very paranoid about this. We read many stories online about how dogs died on the plane so we wanted to ensure that everything would go smoothly.

Our Pet Relocation Specialist, Sarah,  was a great specialist to us. She was empathetic and patient to our inquiries, and she made herself available to us at all times. Even though we were in Japan, she gave us details to ensure that Josh's export documents were in order.

On the day that Josh was supposed to move there were sudden changes, and I had to call Sarah at night. But everything went in order. It was never chaotic. We were never worried.

When Josh arrived in Singapore, he was so energetic and so curious about the whole new environment even after the exhausting flight. At the end of the whole procedure, we realized we worried too much when actually everything went perfectly well.

So to other pet owners out there, if you ever wondered like I did if this is a made-up blog, I can absolutely tell you, no, it is not. PetRelocation.com is a great pet transport service provider. Keep it up!

Pet Move Customer Testimonial: Pepper's Relocation to Seattle

Wednesday, February 1, 2012 by PetRelocation.com Customer
Name: Pat
Pet's Name: Pepper
From: Ellicott City, MD
To: Seattle, WA

Bob was offered a job with Boeing in Washington, and we lived in Maryland. What to do with Pepper was a big concern.

Pepper is an older dog and has diabetes. We considered driving, but a cross-country move in the winter didn't seem too safe. We chose PetRelocation.com after looking at their web site and they were also recommended by our relocation service provider. After speaking with our vet and the Relocation Specialist, Rebecca, we knew that they were the ones to help get her there safe and sound.

Rebecca was there for every step of the way with information and she really calmed my concerns, which were many. Many phone calls and emails later, I am happy to say that Pepper survived the whole ordeal better than we did. She is doing fine, her spirits are high, and she's back to her old self! The temporary housing we are staying in is very pet friendly; they have a doggy patch of grass on the roof and she meets up with some of the pets that use it.

Pet Move Customer Testimonial: Scarlet and Dyna's Move to the United States

Wednesday, February 1, 2012 by PetRelocation.com Customer
Name: Deb
Company: Copper Mining Company
Pets' Names: Scarlet and Dyna
From: Arequipa, Peru
To: Silver City, New Mexico

After having a bad experience with another company, I was very concerned about getting my pets back to the United States. I searched the net and found that PetRelocation.com received excellent reviews and that the "other guys" pretty much received reviews from others that compared with my experience.

I insisted to our HR department that I be able to use PetRelocation.com, who happily ended up having a working relationship with our corporate relocation contractor.

What a difference! How nice that PetRelocation.com got back with me immediately. E-mails and phone calls were responded to promptly; I knew the state of my pets at every juncture, and I even got photos of them at a wayside boarding facility!

Pet Move Customer Testimonial: Alpha's Move to Louisville

Wednesday, February 1, 2012 by PetRelocation.com Customer
Name: Jacqui
Pet's Name: Alpha
From: Dallas
To: Louisville

I received two quotes that were extremely expensive for what I would describe as a relatively short relocation for a cat. After looking online, I found PetRelocation.com and found your staff to be well-informed and professional.

I dealt with Rebecca, who was nothing short of amazing. From the first contact I had with her up until the end, she constantly exceeded my expectations. She was prepared to go above and beyond, and she continually assisted me in making the transition and the relocation for Alpha as simple as possible.

Thank you, Rebecca, for your time and energy - it has been very much appreciated.

Pet Move Customer Testimonial: A Careful Dog Move to Shanghai

Thursday, January 26, 2012 by PetRelocation.com Customer
Name: George
Pets Names: Quinn & Shadow
From: Atlanta, Georgia
To: Shanghai, China

About a year ago we found out we would be moving to China. During a discussion with some people that had gone before us, PetRelocation.com was mentioned. We needed to move with two dogs, one of which was a rescue with severe epilepsy. His condition requires medication every 12 hours to prevent cluster seizures, which would kill him. Ashley worked with us to research what would be the best way to get there. We settled on flying from Atlanta to Detroit, stay overnight there, and start fresh the next day on a direct flight to Shanghai. As it turns out, this was a very good choice. Detroit had a snowstorm that day and our connection would most likely have been missed. When traveling in the winter, it is always a good idea to choose a direct flight or leave enough time between connections.

During our house hunting trip to Shanghai, James, with Pet Relocation in China, came over to our hotel to go over our special needs for Shadow. This was apparently about a two hour drive each way from the kennel. Having the chance to meet who would be responsible for our dogs in quarantine and go over the requirements really gave us peace of mind and allowed both of us to better prepare for the upcoming trip.

Our pets traveled on Delta as accompanied luggage. Delta went out of their way to allow us to stay with Shadow and give him his medicine at the last minute. Thankfully the first officer of the 747 let us know that our pets were on board. Had they not we would have disembarked prior to closing the boarding door.

Upon arrival in Shanghai, by the time we had gotten through immigration there was James with our two pets in customs. Once reunited we were able to feed, water, and medicate our pets, however I am not sure which they were more interested in, the food or us.

It wasn't long after quarantine that James was able to deliver our dogs to their new home in Shanghai! Overall we would highly recommend PetRelocation.com. Without their support and advice, this move would have been nearly impossible.

Pet Move Customer Testimonial: Bandit's Move!

Wednesday, January 25, 2012 by PetRelocation.com Customer
Name: Kara
Pet's Name: Bandit
From: San Diego, California
To: Newtown, Pennsylvania

My family and I just relocated from San Diego, CA to Newtown, PA. As anyone reading this knows, relocation can be somewhat chaotic! Add to that the fact that your pet (who is most likely your best friend) can often not travel closely with you, and this can add a great deal of stress to the relocation. Two weeks prior to our move, however, I contacted PetRelocation.com after receiving a recommendation from our relocation company. My husband and I were concerned about putting the welfare of our dog in someone else's hands - but after my first conversation with Amber of PetRelocation.com, I knew that Bandit was in the best of hands!

For the two weeks before Bandit's move, my husband and I had what seemed like a million questions a day. Amber was always available to answer our questions quickly and completely and she NEVER made us feel like we had too many questions! She was a delight - Amber took care of all of the tiny details that we just would not have had time to complete. Everything from tips for crate training to getting Bandit's health certificate in order! By the time my husband and I were to drop Bandit at my in-law's house and fly out of San Diego, we knew the PetRelocation.com staff would take care of everything and make sure Bandit made it to us safely.

On Bandit's big travel day we were already in PA but we received CONSTANT contact letting us know that Bandit was safe, healthy, and well on his way to his destination. There was not a moment that we were worried about him! Considering some stories we have heard about pet travel, having this level of comfort was huge. When Bandit was dropped off at our new front door he was happy, healthy, well rested and ready to play :)

I'd say that, for us, the best part of Bandit's move was when he was dropped off and he and Mike (the PetRelocation staff member that dropped him off) looked like they had been friends forever. Bandit is settling in nicely in PA, he spent the whole day exploring!!

Thanks so much PetRelocation.com! We don't plan on relocating again, but if we do you will be sure to hear from us! For now - we look forward to sending Bandit's friends your way if they are going to be taking a trip :)

Pet Move Customer Testimonial: Relocating Cats to China

Tuesday, January 24, 2012 by PetRelocation.com Customer
Name: Andy and V
Pets' Names: Shimmy and Bella
From: Northern Westchester, NY
To: China

Back in March of 2011, we were given the opportunity to move to China and further our respective careers, but one question immediately popped into mind. How do we get our two cats there safely? My wife and I searched and found several pet moving agencies, but ultimately chose to go with PetRelocation.com. They were not the least expensive, but when it comes to moving a member of the family (as these cats have become), the sense of security and the remarkable service we received from Ashley soon let us know we had made the right choice. She helped us navigate through all of the paperwork and medical requirements. Additionally, through PetRelocation.com we were able to avoid having our cats having to serve a seven-day quarantine period here in China. The move recently took place just this past December.

The choice to use Ashley and the team at PetRelocation.com only became more appreciated when some last minute paperwork issues from our vet forced our cats to have to leave a week after we originally planned. Through Ashley we were able to set up door-to-door service from my wife's parent’s house, where the cats were temporarily housed, to our new home in China. Ashley's calm sense of confidence throughout the process made it far less stressful than I imagine it could have been.

Once the cats were picked up, my wife and I had constant updates on their whereabouts and the status of their journey. PetRelocation.com's Shanghai based associate, James, met us in the airport to collect some paperwork, and nine days later showed up at our door with the rest of our family.

I really can't say enough good things about the services we were supplied with. Even after delivery they helped me source out some supplies that were difficult to locate locally.

Moving is tough enough. Moving to another country, like China, is a whole new level of headache. For example, our personal items (clothes, pictures, etc.) have been stuck in customs since landing here. If you plan on bringing your pet(s), do yourself a favor and contact the team at PetRelocation.com.

Pet Move Customer Testimonial: Moving 'Fur Kids' to Hong Kong

Thursday, January 19, 2012 by PetRelocation.com Customer
Name: Nicole & Douglas
Pets Names: Isis & Caesar
To: Hong Kong

caeser and isisHello Sarah. It has now been a full month since Isis (our 3-year-old Bull Mastiff) & Caesar (our 5-year-old Boston Terrier) joined my husband and I in Hong Kong. We are quickly getting settled and are excited to explore more of Hong Kong and Asia.

We are so very late with this note, so please accept our apologies. I personally just can't sleep another night without passing along our utmost gratitude to you and PetRelocation.com.

As you know, we don't have human children and Isis & Caesar ARE OUR CHILDREN. When the opportunity to move abroad was presented to us, our #1 and ONLY concern was the health, well-being and safety of our two fur kids. Everything else was just not as important. They were the only concern that had us teetering on whether to accept or not; especially given their breeds and airline restrictions. From day one, in speaking with you and your colleagues, I was immediately put at ease on the handling, preparation, safety and overall process. You comforted me and ensured me that this was your passion with a stellar track record in reuniting fur kids with their human families in their new home.

The experience from Day One was phenomenal. The attention we received from you, your availability for questions and concerns, and status updates made the whole process less stressful for all. Without your attention to detail, knowledge of the rules and regulations, we would not have been able to do this alone. We so appreciated the planning, education and numerous telephone and e-mail communications. On our last vet visit in the US, you were there by the phone ensuring that all the i's were dotted and t's were crossed. Thank you so very much!

Sue (the woman who picked up the dogs in SFO) was wonderful, compassionate, professional and kind. Despite my tears as they pulled away in the van, I had an overall sense of trust and faith that they would be handled perfectly. The Hong Kong receivers were very communicative and called us frequently to give us updates on their status -- something we appreciated beyond words.

Isis and Caesar arrived late evening, excited to see us.... healthy and happy. They were clearly well-watched over throughout their journey.

As a human companion to your own fur kid you no doubt understand the emotions and anxiety that accompany such an trip and when I tell you we had tears of joy at the sight of them coming out of their crates, I mean it... It's funny, because families that do not have animal companions can't quite understand and we frequently hear, "they are just animals". In our eyes, they are not, and unless you have had the privilege to live with a fur kid, it's difficult to impart the emotional attachment and gifts they bring into your life.

We are forever grateful to YOU and your team of professionals for helping to make this relocation less stressful and for assisting in reuniting our family.

Please extend our thanks to ALL involved, including Sue and the local Hong Kong pet movers.

With Utmost Gratitude~
Douglas, Nicole, Isis & Caesar

Pet Move Customer Testimonial: Jade's Cross-Country Move

Wednesday, January 18, 2012 by PetRelocation.com Customer
Name: Kelly
Pet's Name: Jade
From: North Carolina
To: California

Due to my husband getting an awesome job offer, we needed to move across the country... like the whole way. Our relocation company recommended PetRelocation.com when I told them that I was having trouble figuring out how to send my 100 lb, 4-year-old Bull Mastiff to California from North Carolina.

We chose the door-to-door service. Jade was picked up from a friend's house where she was staying, put in a van, and taken to the airport. The person who picked her up took care of a bunch of paperwork and checked her in. She also froze water in the travel water bowls for Jade to have along the way. She had a great suggestion to use a bath mat in the bottom of the crate instead of a blanket or towel since it wouldn't slide.

Amber with PetRelocation.com kept me updated (in my complete lack of organization during this crazy time) through the whole process. I got an email, text, or call during every part of her journey. When a reputable mailing/delivery service delivered a damaged crate, Amber managed coordinating getting a new one sent and the old one to be inspected/picked up.

Jade got to California after a 14-hour journey. She was dropped off at our new house to my husband, who said she was in "perfect" condition as she proceeded to hop around her new yard like a bunny. She didn't even pee in her crate! We hope we won't have to move across the country again, but if we do I would use PetRelocation.com without question!

Pet Move Customer Testimonial: Isis and Sheba's Move to Seattle

Tuesday, January 17, 2012 by PetRelocation.com Customer
Name: Kristin
Pets Names: Isis and Sheba
From: Charlotte, NC
To: Seattle, WA

I was in a little bit of a bind given that I had to relocate to Seattle in approximately one week. I didn't have any idea how my kitties were going to get there, as I could have only carried one of them on my flight with me.

I contacted PetRelocation.com and Marissa was so prompt in providing me with the options and information that I needed! She was helpful and efficient and coordinated everything for me, down to helping me purchase the right size kennels for my kitties to travel in.

My kitties had to ride 2 1/2 hours, board, ride to the airport, fly to Seattle, ride to the kennel, board and then be picked up by me two days later. It was quite the logistical nightmare, but PetRelocation.com handled it all!!! :)

Thanks again!

January Pet Move of the Month: Leo's Horse Move

Monday, January 16, 2012 by PetRelocation.com Customer
leo the horseSometimes larger than average pets come along, and though it can be a little trickier to figure out how to transport them safely, we find a way to get the job done.

We recently had the chance to move Leo, a charming (and very big) horse going from Portland, Oregon to Santa Barbara, California. Leo is a 17-hand, 1,500 lb Oldenburg, and according to the agent who moved him, is "every bit as sweet as he is large."

This unique move went smoothly (the agent was even able to keep a video feed going during the trip in order to keep an eye on Leo), and as you can see below, his new home looks beautiful.

All of this made it clear that Leo deserved to be our January pet move of the month! Help us congratulate Leo for being such a great traveler, and stay tuned to the blog for more updates and info about moving pets of all kinds.

Researching the rules for moving a horse domestically or internationally? Here are a few things to keep in mind.

Horse Import into the US

Quarantine Period (For Coggins Infectious Anemia Testing): Two to Three Days

Purpose: To check for piroplasmosis, glanders and dourine

Note: Positive samples are unusual in horses from Western European countries, but the risk of piroplasmosis is quite high if your horse has been to Russia, Southern Europe or the South of France. In these cases a pre-export test is probably worthwhile.

Release from quarantine schedules for various horse breeds:

-Gelding or ANY breed under two years old – May be released after standard quarantine period.  (Two to three days with negative blood results.)

-Mares and Stallions over two years old -- Move to CEM Quarantine testing facility.

-Mares and stallions more than two years of age (731 days) proceed to CEM (sexually transmitted diseases) quarantine after the standard quarantine.

-CEM quarantine must take place at officially prescribed farms and they must be transported in a sealed vehicle.

Mares: Within 30 days of export CEM swabs from clitoris fossa and clitoris sinus must be negative. This testing takes 14 days and is repeated in the United States during CEM quarantine. Quarantine after arrival at the prescribed farm takes at least 14 days.

After receiving negative results the Mare may be released.

Stallions: Within 30 days of export CEM swabs from fossa glandis, sinus urethralis and from the surface of prepuce must return negative. Testing takes about 14 days. Stallions have to cover two mares, obtained especially for that purpose, and must undergo a special testing program together with these mares.

Domestic Horse Transportation

Documents Required:

-Please make sure your vet is ‘Accredited’ & ALL signatures are in BLUE INK

-Original Health Certificate issued by a Veterinarian
(Certificate should be issued within 10 days from date of shipment)

-Coggins Test showing horse is negative for Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA)
(Must be tested within 12 months from the date of shipment)

-Printed History of Horses’ Vaccination Records sent to your PetRelocation specialist.
(Suggested vaccinations include West Nile Virus and Flu/Rhino)

Please Note:

We recommend having your horse microchipped (if he or she is not already tattooed or permanently branded) for international and domestic shipments.  Please discuss the microchip options with your PetRelocation.com specialist or your veterinarian.

Pet Move Customer Testimonial: Maggie's Move Across The Pond

Thursday, January 12, 2012 by PetRelocation.com Customer
Name: Jennifer
Pet's Name: Maggie
From: Houston, Texas
To: Cambridge, United Kingdom

Our big adventure started in June 2011 when we found out my husband would be transferred from Houston, Texas to Cambridge, United Kingdom. Our English Setter Maggie would be making the voyage with us, and therefore we had to start as soon as possible with preparations.

Due to UK regulations, Maggie had to be chipped, get another rabies shot, then two weeks later had to have a blood test for rabies. The hardest news was learning that Maggie had to have a six month quarantine from the date of the blood work before she could move to the UK, and we would be leaving the end of August. Maggie stayed behind in the States with relatives to finish out the rest of her quarantine period.

We arrived back in the States to celebrate Christmas and New Years as Maggie's quarantine was coming to an end. PetRelocation.com kept us up to date with all the paperwork and vet visits that needed to be done before Maggie's voyage over the pond. After two more vet visits, USDA paperwork, and EU Certificates were complete, Maggie was finally ready for her voyage.

Maggie was picked up in a van, taken to the airport and her journey across the pond was made. Once she arrived she went through customs/vet approvals, which was almost eight hours long due to heavy pet shipments that day, and PetRelocation.com had a driver on standby the entire time. After she was released, PetRelocation.com drove her two hours from London, Heathrow to Fulbourn, Cambridge.

Thankfully we did the door-to-door service, as it was much easier than waiting at customs for her to be released. Maggie is already adjusted to her new house and yard and is doing great!

Note: As of Jan. 1, 2012, the travel rules for the UK have been relaxed, so pets moving now don't have to jump through as many hoops as Maggie did. Check out the new UK pet import regulations here.

Pet Move Customer Testimonial: Kate and Kenny's Dog Move to California

Wednesday, January 4, 2012 by PetRelocation.com Customer
Name: Val
Pets' Names: Kate and Kenny
From: Michigan
To: California

Moving across the country for a new job and away from family and friends can be stressful enough. Having to move without one's K9 family members initially only added to it. Living in temporary housing, I wasn't able to take them with me right away. After finding a permanent home, I was elated and then suddenly realized, "How am I going to get them there?" Luckily, I found PetRelocation.com.

I called several pet transporters but was very impressed by Amber's response time and follow-through. She made the process easy and tended to every single detail with consistent follow-up, even during the holidays!

K & K were transported safely and arrived on schedule. Using PetRelocation.com helped to give me peace of mind. I would use them again in a heartbeat! They are wonderful people who provide a wonderful service.

Pet Move Customer Testimonial: Moving Five Pets to Malaysia

Wednesday, January 4, 2012 by PetRelocation.com Customer
Name: Janet
Pets' Names: Bugsy, Narly, Suki, Iggy and Harry
From: Houston, Texas
To: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Was feeling a little overwhelmed trying to get info to move our five critters from Texas to Kuala Lumpur. So glad we found PetRelocation.com as they were fantastic. Ashley was our agent and she took on all the hard work, was helpful with all my questions, checked in regularly and best of all our pets are all here safe and sound with us again.

If anyone else is coming here, a word of warning that quarantine is VERY basic. Cement floors and water is all they provide. You can visit every day but it is a long drive from town. Or have the agent at this end take food, meds. toys etc to them and request that they put their crates/beds in with them too.

They were almost as happy to see me as I was to see them and I would use PetRelocation.com again for sure. Thanks.
