Pet Oxygen Masks

In keeping with Petrelocation.com 'Prepare your Pets' theme, I came across what I feel is the best Live Animal contribution to our 'human focused' resuce missions.

A non profit pet friendly organization called H.E.L.P Animals,Inc has developed what seems to be the first pet friendly oxygen mask/sytem designed for Firefighters and first responders who rescue people and pets from fires.

Firefighters know better than most, just how hard it can be to save dogs, cats and other beloved family pets from a fire. These pets are usually the most vulnerable when it comes to the problems that occur from such a tragedy. Many times, pets hide under beds and other furniture with no way to escape the smoke and flames. As they hide, their owners have no way of finding them in the quick retreat they make from the burning structure.

Many fire departments are working to add these systems to their rescue kits. The state of Delaware has officially become the first state in the Country to have all their fire stations equipped with pet oxygen masks! This is great news and a very big deal to all pet owners, especially those living within the state of Delaware.

These pet oxygen masks are ordered for $55 a set - Each set includes three different sized masks, designed to fit varying breeds of cats and dogs, as well as some smaller pets, like ferrets. These sets are vital to the well being of rescued pets throughout the world! We are hoping our readers who see this, will try their best to push for these products in their local fire stations and communities.

Many think that its as simple as using the masks currently provided for humans - on pets. However, human oxygen masks dont work well on dogs and cats, because they are too big and the oxygen seeps out the sides.

Often times, the only ones inside a home during a fire are pets, and they need oxygen administered to them at the scene in order to survive.
