Question: Hello, I am moving to the UK from the US in the next two weeks. I am in a bit of a time crunch and won't be able to do a 6 month home quarantine prior to my departure. What are the next steps for me to import my dog? Do I need to have the microchip and blood drawn prior to depature even if the quarantine is not done in the US? Thank you.
Thanks for your question, Michelle. It is ideal to try to avoid quarantine in the UK by waiting out the six months prior to departure. However, if you send your pet over before the six month period is up, it's a good idea just to go ahead and do the microchip and blood test ahead of time. This will cut down on a few additional days in quarantine and also be cheaper than doing the services while the pet is in quarantine.
