Paws Resort offers Pet Boarding & Quarantine in South Africa

Friday, June 26, 2009 by Rachel Farris

There's a new cat in town -- a new pet resort, that is!

We just added a new pet resort to our South Africa Pet Import listing (under the "Living" section) after their manager, Barbara, emailed us with information on her pet friendly services.

They arrange pet boarding at a comfortable pet lodge, with plenty of space for pets to roam and play, in Midrand, South Africa.  They also offer quarantine for pets traveling to Australia.

Check out the Paws Resort website for more details and contact information.

Please note that Paws resort and its owner Barbara Coward are under investigation by the Veterinary Council, for animal abuse to my two Dobermanns who were in quarantine there and arrived in Australia six months later in shocking condition. Please see blacklistings on the SACBR website for more information, the photo will stun you.

The big male went into quarantine weighing 48kg and six months later looked like a dog that had not seen food in months, he then weighed 27kg on arrival at Eastern Creek quarantine kennels in May 2010. A private veterinary report has concluded that starvation was the cause of his and my female Dobermanns weight loss as Coward attempted to state they both lost weight for health reasons. This has been ruled out as both pets have regained almost full weight since being reunited with me and out of quarantine since June. The male Tosca is now back to 41.6kg and the female a more healthy 34.5kg. Beware of this facility and its owner Barbara Coward. The investigation into her and her dodgy quarantine facility is ongoing.

Helen, Do you have the latest detail on this issue. My 2 dogs have been there for 2 months and have another 4 left. I have already paid a big amount of money to the resort and would not want the same to happen to my dogs. Where can I get more info on the current investigation?
